Dance Parties

U&Me dance holds public dance parties almost every Thursday and Friday night. The parties are a great opportunity to practice your dancing, meet new people, and have a lot of fun! Our parties are all ages (usually between the ages of 15-65) and singles are welcome! We sell cold bottled water and made-to-order coffee drinks at our Espresso Bar, and of course tap water is available with cups. The parties range in size, with our usual attendance at 60-80 people. Many of our members attend regularly; students who want to enhance their dancing, take lessons and attend parties regularly should look into a membership.

Admission

Cost for Thursday (7:30-9:30pm): $5 or $3 for Students or Seniors
Cost for Friday with lesson (8-11pm): $12 or $10 for Students or Seniors.
Cost for Friday party only (9-11pm): $10 or $7 for Students or Seniors.

Thursdays

Thursday parties are intended for practice, and our instructors are in attendance to answer questions regarding dancing and what you’re learning in lessons, and of course to dance! Each Thursday starts at 7:30pm with an INTRO lesson. The lesson is aimed at beginners, rotates each week, and corresponds with the lesson we offer before our Friday dance; So if you like what you learn on Thursday, come back on Friday to get a more detailed lesson and a longer party. We start the dance at 8pm and it runs until 9:30 pm, ending with a last Waltz. The format is 2 dances each, in a row, of all the dances we regularly teach, including: American Style Smooth: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz
American Style Rhythm: Mambo, Cha Cha, Bolero, Rumba, Samba, EC Swing, WC Swing, Merengue, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Hustle, Jitterbug, Nightclub 2 Step

Fridays

Friday parties have a different feeling from Thursdays---the focus is more on dancing what you know, enjoying what you’re doing and meeting people and dancing with friends. Our instructors are on hand to help everyone get at least a few dances in, and of course to answer questions. Friday night begins at 8pm with an hour beginning lesson (in the same dance as Thursdays lesson) and then the party gets started at 9pm and goes until 11pm. We play a mix of Swing, Latin, Ballroom, and Nightclub music, with extra emphasis on the dance taught in the lesson that evening (if the lesson was Cha Cha, you can expect between 5-6 Cha Chas in the playlist). Fridays tend to be a bit dressier, and we have one formal night each month, so be sure to check the Calendar.
