Washington Ballroom Dance Teachers Academy - Bellingham

A dance teacher’s career is more than just knowing how to dance. It is knowing the details; understanding people; understanding business and sales. It is having a passion for dance like no one else, and a desire to share that passion with anyone and everyone. At U&ME Dance we want to share the joy of teaching dance to others with you. We are also committed to turning out the best teachers; the most trained in everything from dance basics, technique, up to date styles, business understanding, sales training, and communicative skills.

About the Program

Our Teacher Training Program is designed to follow, and allow certification for Dance Visions International Dancers Association (DVIDA). All of our in house teachers are certified in this syllabus and we have found it to be one of the most thorough, and easy to understand syllabus we have come across. DVIDA is associated with the National Dance Counsel of America (NDCA).

Trainees will receive an education in dances at the Bronze level. We will focus on steps, frame, technique, theory, history, and teaching skills. All trainees will also receive training in the dance business skills needed for teaching lessons, working in a studio or anywhere in the dance business.

About the Instructor

Mary Evans has been teaching American Style Rhythm and Smooth, as well as Argentine Tango, Salsa, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop and others for 13 years.

She is certified through her Grand Masters level with DVIDA in American Rhythm and Smooth, and her Associates in Argentine Tango. She keeps herself in constant training to make sure the training she offers others is as current as possible.

Mary has worked with adults of all ages and levels and has also found a love of teaching children. She has worked with students of all abilities, as well as disabilities and really has found a joy in the details and challenges that bring great rewards both to her and her students.

Training teachers is something she began while working in Bellevue, WA, and really found a knack for. Mary also is a local choreographer and loves to share this creative form with those she teaches.
