Welcome to U&ME Dance

Youth Classes
Winter-Spring Youth Series
Starting January 15th and 16th, 2008
Youth Dance Instructors are Mary Evans (U&ME Youth Director), Joel Simler, Marcus Tasanasanta.
U&ME Dance offers a youth program like no other. Kids ages 6-18 can join in their genre
choice of Swing, Latin, or Ballroom Dancing. U&ME Dance trains the kids to dance for
social events throughout their lives as well as semi-annual showcases put on by the studio,
and competitions for those kids with a competitive spirit. Social Dancing is a great way to
teach kids social etiquette, coordination, posture and carriage, balance and flexibility, creativity
and confidence, respect for each other, new friends, not to mention dances and dance skills that will
be useful to them later in their lives. We will be accepting students for this session through February.
Samba and Cha Cha
Tuesdays 4-5:30pm
This class will focus mainly on the Brazilian dance of Samba. Samba is a carnival style party dance,
good pictures of Samba are bright colors, loud music, and lots of movement. Samba is always fun
and lively on the dance floor. In addition to Samba, students will be introduced to the flirty
party dance from Cuba, the Cha Cha. They will also learn to dance and fuse these to dances together.
Other parts of the class include: understanding beats and musicality of dancing, technique for Latin dances,
history of the dances and how they are portrayed in their country of origin, and dancing to both classic and modern songs.
Ballroom Class: Quick Step will be held each Wednesday from 4-5:30pm
Tuition, Fees and Policies are located at the bottom of this page.
West Coast Swing and Tango
Wednesdays 4-5:30
This class will focus mainly on West Coast Swing. This is a US original dance, and a branch of swing dancing, which
originates in the 1930’s and 40’s. West Coast is a bit more bluesy or hip hop in style and ties in very well with modern
music. In addition these students will be introduced to American and Argentine style Tango. Other parts of the class
include: rhythm and musicality work, connection for lead and follow and fusion of these styles together in one dance.
They will also learn a bit of the history and culture of these dances.
